I have never been a fan of the Department of Homeland Security. We may need such a department but President Bush and his gang used it for political reasons. It failed many times. It was used to help the Republicans in Texas. It has just been a mess.
Just for New Orleans alone it should have been done away with … Or fixed… after everyone from top to bottom was fired.
Now Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano tells us that the guy that was trying to set off an explosive device in his lap was on a list of half a million names of people to watch out about… But it was not a no fly list because "…You need information that is specific and credible if your're going to bar people from air travel…"
What the fuck? I know half a million names is a lot of people. But there should be a team of officers working on that list full time. They should be working to confirm that the names should be on the list and checking to see if they need to be moved to a no fly list and they should be working to remove them from the list if they should not be on the list.
But if your name is on that list.. Then you get special attention.. In the screening they should go over you with a fine tooth comb. They should give you a special "VIP" seat on the flight. It would be a seat next to a special flight marshal. He would be flying just to keep an eye on you. If you got gum in your mouth he should know what flavor it is.
OK OK that might be a bit of over kill but you get my idea. No way should someone on that list have the ability to do anything on a flight.
I feel sorry for anyone that heads the Department of Homeland Security. The DHS director is boss of the heads of the FBI, CIA and all the other agencies in name only.
